RF Shielded Enclosures-Ideal EMC Testing Environments! We all know that all electronic devices have to pass Final EMC Compliance testing before they are marketed. RF Shielded Enclosures provide ideal conditions for performing Pre-Compliance EMC testing. Compliance testing determines whether or not the device is emitting RF and Electromagnetic radiation that will affect the performance of devices in their shared workspace, or if the device is sensitive to other electromagnetic phenomena. RF Shielded Enclosures create a low ambient RF environment as EMI and RFI can’t enter the chamber. A low-ambient environment assures that the RFI/EMI present in the chamber during the testing comes from the device being tested.

If the device under testing is adversely affected by acceptable levels of RFI/EMI, the device is “Susceptible” to emitted radiation. If the device being tested is giving off RFI/EMI that is higher than the acceptable limit, the device is an “emitter” of unacceptable RFI/EMI. The device is modified, usually using a shielding solution to block the unacceptable interference, meaning that it passes the emissions testing!
