Shieldex® Yarns
Shieldex® Conductive Yarns, Threads, and fibers can be used in a variety of applications due to their antistatic and high electrical and thermal conductivity properties. These yarns are available as monofilaments, multifilaments, and as twisted yarns. The silver-plated polyamide yarns can be twisted, warp and weft knitted, embroidered, interwoven, and spun like uncoated yarns. They are used as conductors for sensors, smart textiles, RF shielded clothing, and home textiles.

Shieldex® Threads
Shieldex® Threads are used whenever tear-resistance is required. The automotive and technical textile industry use the electrically conductive properties of our threads to the great benefit of their products. Shieldex® TPU (Thermoplastic PolyUrethane) Yarns
Shieldex® TPU insulated yarns are excellent for use in areas where a “typical solid wire” does not have ideal properties for the application. Typically this would be an application that requires a flexible wire that won’t develop stress fractures created by repeated flexing that solid metals do, ultimately resulting in failure. Conductive yarn in a flexible, insulated TPU sleeve is a great solution, literally a “wire” with the flexibility of a yarn! TPU Yarn is also easily embroidered into smart textiles, providing a flexible, highly conductive path through the textile. The conductivity of the yarn is unchanged by the sheathing.

Monofilament Wires
Monofilament Wires are true single filament yarns/wires of polyamide that are plated with 99% pure silver, compared to our single ply yarns which have multiple filaments in them. These unique monofilament wires are available in many sizes to accommodate the specific requirements of the varied applications that they are used in.

More about Yarns and Threads
Many of our yarns have high conductivity (HC) and an anti-tarnish coating (B). Some of our silverized yarns are twisted with a non-conductive yarn such as PET. Yarns are sold by weight*.
*To better understand the numerical description of the yarns, an example would be our 117/17 dtex 2 ply the 117 is the weight in dtex. Since it is a 2 ply, the weight is multiplied by 2, giving a total weight of 234 dtex BEFORE silver plating. The number 17 represents the number of filaments present in the yarn.
