RF Shielded EMC Testing Enclosures-Size Matters!  Electronic devices come in all sizes.  All of the devices require EMC Compliance Testing in order to be marketed.  This testing determines whether the device can work effectively in a shared electromagnetic environment.  All devices emit RFI radiation and electromagnetic fields.  These emissions can adversely affect the function of the other devices.  The problem boils down to two terms, emissions or susceptibility.  The RF emissions of an electronic device must meet certain applicable standards.  The device must be able to function optimally in an “standard environment”, otherwise it is “susceptible” to interference and requires modifications in order to pass EMC Compliance Testing.

RF Shielded EMC Testing Enclosures-Size Matters!  EMC Testing Enclosures provide the low ambient environment that EMC Testing requires.  During Emission Testing, the Device Under Testing (DUT) operates in the Enclosure and its RF Emissions are subject to evaluation.  If the emissions are outside the standard frequencies, the device is an “emitter” and requires design modifications to change the emissions to comply with the standards.  Similarly, during Susceptibility Testing, the device faces challenges with RF emissions that meet acceptable standards.  If the device function decreases under this stress, the device is “susceptible” and requires modifications to correct this issue.
