Quality Control and Testing-VTT Cares!
Quality Control and Testing-VTT Cares! When VTT receives a shipment of conductive textiles from a supplier, we sample it and test it before accepting it. Testing includes electrical conductivity and resistance, along with visual evaluation. Other tests may include Weight, Thickness, Hole Count, and Yarn Count. Our RF Shielded Enclosures are tested to assure that their Shielding Effectiveness (SE) lives up to the specifications that we promise. The same rigid Quality Control standards apply to all the products we manufacture using our textiles as well. Consistency is important at VTT!
Quality Control and Testing-VTT Cares! VTT has a material Testing Lab along with a Materials Specialist and two technicians to help accomplish the necessary quality control inspection and testing. Likewise, a Quality Control processes take place with the wearable products that we manufacture using conductive textiles. Our garments are subject to inspection for conformance to pattern, stitch and size quality. Additionally, garments face testing for shielding performance if the garment claims to have RF Shielding properties. Durability testing includes abrasion and multiple washings to see how long the textiles will maintain their electrical properties. Drying is usually hang drying, as heat will tend to breakdown the polyamide fibers, causing loss of electronic functionality.
Microscopy to detect Flaws
Quality Control and Testing-VTT Cares! Microscopy is useful in the determination of damage to the yarns and fibers of the fabric and issues with the many special coatings applied to conductive textiles. Defects during the knitting process are also discovered with the use of microscopy. As you can see, VTT tests its metalized textiles, whether yarns, threads, fabrics or Velcro to make sure that they will continue to satisfy our customers as they have for years!
