RF Shielded Enclosures-Test with Confidence! Pre-Compliance EMC Testing requires a low ambient environment for accurate testing. The only Source of interference in the testing enclosure should be the Device Under Testing (DUT). RF Shielded enclosures are based on the Faraday Cage Principle which states that electromagnetic fields approach the outside of the enclosure, they will not pass through the walls of the enclosure. The interior of the testing enclosure should have no ambient RF radiation higher than the level that you are testing for based on the Shielding Effectiveness of the enclosure. During the testing, any RF radiation higher than the floor level would logically be a product of the DUT.

There are different emissions allowances depending on the future use of the electronic device. If the device doesn’t emit RFI above the acceptable level, the device will pass the emission testing. On the other hand, if the device emits RFI exceeding the EMC standard, the device will have to be altered to correct the offending emissions, lowering them to within the EMC Standards.
